IGDB game data

Fills in category/players/description/cover art for games that don't have them (mainly SNES right now — NES already has its own data; covers only fill in when the usual box-art source has nothing for that file). Free, one-time setup: create an app at dev.twitch.tv/console/apps (Client Type: Confidential — requires 2FA on your Twitch account), then paste its Client ID and Client Secret below.

LaunchBox folder

Point this at your local LaunchBox install folder (the one containing Data and Images) — its metadata & box art get read from there directly. Nothing is sent anywhere; this all stays local. Only fills in games that don't already have this data from another source.

Push the button and repeat the action. You’ll need to do it three times.

Settings

Accounts

Shows a no-PIN "Guest" profile in the picker that anyone can use — its name and avatar are fixed.

Lets them change the scoreboard, end the game, pause, use the countdown, reset, and save/load — including loading a game straight from the library instead of only suggesting one.

Avatars

Drag to reorder. Delete removes it for everyone (anyone currently using it keeps a broken image until they pick another).

Upload an image that's a grid of avatar portraits — set how many columns/rows it has and each cell becomes its own avatar.

Performance

Lets "Nerd stuff" glow on connection issues even while closed. Turn off to save a little CPU.

Rebuilds P2's video/audio/controls connection from scratch. Only needed if something's stuck — doesn't touch the loaded game.

Streaming

  • WebRTC — real video codec, adapts to your connection, some compression artifacts.
  • PixelStream — pixel-perfect, no adaptive quality, routed through this server.
  • NetPlay — no picture or audio streamed at all, each side runs the game locally; Pause/Save state unavailable.

Scroll detection only runs on heavily changed frames and falls back to Classic when it cannot prove a useful match within the CPU budget.

Input

Only the guest's input ever crosses the network — your own presses go straight into the game locally, so there's nothing of yours to configure here. These settings apply live to whoever's currently playing as Player 2.

Doesn't affect ping — just how fast a dropped input packet self-corrects. Off sends only on actual press/release (like a native controller) — fine on a stable connection, saves a little background traffic and CPU, but a single dropped packet won't self-correct.

Grouped resends the guest's whole button state as a safety net; separate sends each press/release the instant it happens. Worth trying both to see which feels better on the guest's connection.

Emulation

  • jsnes — what this app has always used.
  • nescore — a different emulator core, worth trying if a game crashes, freezes, or glitches on jsnes (better MMC3 support in particular). Trade-offs: no Zapper/light-gun support at all, and a somewhat narrower list of supported cartridge mappers — a game using one nescore doesn't know just won't load.

Only applies to WebRTC and PixelStream — NetPlay always uses jsnes. Takes effect the next time a game loads; it won't touch whatever's currently running.
